Princeton Career Services
Site Supervisor: Hayley Hedgpeth
Projects possible during field experience placements:
The student would have an opportunity to participate in a project that may involve students, alumni and employers and how those three groups of stakeholders interact. This role will likely have less focus on one-on-one counseling and more focus on student engagement projects and programs, however if the student is interested in counseling, we can provide opportunities for exposure to this part of our office operations. The student would be able to discuss the project in more detail as we get closer to the start date, but a few options include:
- Coordination and planning for the spring session of the Princeternship Program, an externship program that takes place between a student and alum during Spring Break (more details available here: http://careerservices.princeton.edu/undergraduate-students/career-programs-fairs-events/princeternships). The student would assist with student/alumni matching, training the students, program assessment and reviewing blog postings.
- Assisting with marketing, outreach and day-of coordination of Meetups, which are hybrid career event bringing together students, alumni, and employers for networking, recruiting and industry education.
- Assisting with the implementation of a new initiative to bring alumni and students together for informal dinners in the residential colleges.
- Developing and updating career development guides for students on topics, such as resume writing, cover letters, interviewing skills, etc.
- Supporting the initiatives of our Peer Career Advisor program, a group of 19 undergraduates who serve as an extension of our office by providing career advising support.
- Coordinating end-of-semester/summer programming and assisting with strategy development for students to connect with alumni in various cities where they will be interning for the summer.
