The Rutgers University College Student Affairs Ed.M. Program emphasizes theory to practice and requires students to gain practical and academic experience.  All students in the program are required to have an Internship that spans the two years of the program.  The Internship program requires a student to work 20 hours per week on campus.  In addition, the program requires two Field Experiences where students work eight hours per week in a site other than their Internship site.  Both the Internship and Field Experience have a seminar requirement.

This website includes information about specific Field Experience sites. Those descriptions include the goals and objectives of programs and suggestions for specific projects that a student might engage in while at the site.

The broad range of sites that are available to students spans most Student Affairs functions and includes opportunities at Rutgers (on both the New Brunswick and Newark Campuses) in Student Affairs, the School of Arts and Sciences, Intercollegiate Athletics and Undergraduate Education among others; and opportunities for placement at other area universities including Princeton University, The College of New Jersey, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Seton Hall University and Raritan Valley Community College.

This site also includes information about the Internship Seminar that students take during their first semester of enrollment, a course similar to the Field Experience Seminar.  It also includes professional ethics statements and the NASPA/ACPA Statement of Professional Competencies.
